GDP @ India’s GDP to grow @ 7.5% for 2016-17 Year

International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its April 2016 Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and the Pacific forecast retained India’s growth rate at 7.5 percent for the year 2016.

•   The IMF report titled Regional Economic Outlook: Asia and Pacific, Building on Asia’s Strengths during Turbulent Times said that this growth momentum is expected to be underpinned by private consumption, which has benefited from lower energy prices.

•   It said that India that had a GDP growth rate of 7.3 percent in 2015 will have 7.5 percent growth in 2016 and 2017.

•   But it called on the policy makers to speed up the structural reform implementation. It suggested them to capitalise on the favourable economic momentum to speed up the structural reform implementation.

•   An incipient recovery in private investment is expected to help broaden the recovery. But the IMF also observed that weak exports and sluggish credit growth will weigh on the Indian economy.

•   It said that the growth in Asia and the Pacific is expected to be 5.3 percent in 2016-2017, marginally lower than the previous estimate of 5.4 percent.

•   In context of China and Japan, it said that the two nations will continue to face challenges.
*  China's growth is forecast to moderate from 6.9 percent in 2015, to 6.5 percent in 2016 and 6.2 percent in 2017.
*  Japan's growth is expected to continue at 0.5 percent in 2016, before dropping to -0.1 per cent in 2017.

Unseen @ English Comprehension 1 For GPSC, GSSSB, CTET, SSC, RRB, UPSC, IBPS, Competitive Exam

Primitive man was probably more concerned with fire as a source of warmth and as a means of cooking food than as a source of light. Before he discovered less laborious ways of making fire, he had to preserve it, and whenever he went on a journey he carried a firebrand with him.
His discovery that the firebrand, from which the torch may very well have developed, could be used for illumination was probably incidental to the primary purpose of preserving a flame.
Lamps, too, probably developed by accident. Early man may have had his first conception of a lamp while watching a twig or fibre burning in the molten fat dropped from a roasting carcass.
All he had to do was to fashion a vessel to contain fat and float a lighted reed in it. Such lamps, which were made of hollowed stones or sea shells, have persisted in identical form up to quite recent times.

Q.1. Primitive man’s most important use for fire was:

(A) to provide warmth
(B) to cook food
(C) to provide light
(D) Both (A) and (B)

Q.2. The firebrand was used to:

(A) prevent accidents

(C) elemental (D) essential

Q.4. Lamps probably developed through mere:

(A) hazard
(B) fate
(C) chance
(D) planning

Q.5. Early lamps were made by:

(A) using a reed as a wick in the fat
(B) letting a reed soak the fat
(C) putting the fat in a shell and lighting it
(D) floating a reed in the sea-shell

Q.6-10.In the following questions, some of the sentences have errors and some have none. Find out which part of a sentence has an error and blacken the circle corresponding to the appropriate letter (A, B, C). If there is no error, blacken the circle corresponding to (D) in the Answer Sheet.
